Diagnostic Catheter-Based Myocardial Spectroscopy PDF Print E-mail

The GCRG has begun working on the development of a catheter based fluorescence spectroscopic device for the in vivo assessment of apoptosis induced mitochondrial dysfunction. Apoptosis contributes to the progression of several cardiovascular diseases including myocardial reperfusion injury heart failure, transplant allograph rejection and coronary plaque rupture. The device is being developed to augment currently existing catheter based diagnostic techniques to allow physicians to more precisely assess early disease progression and institute preventative care.
